Download You Are A Badass At Making Money PDF here. “From the number one New York Times bestselling author of You Are A Badass comes a life changing guide to making the kind of money you’ve only dreamed of.”
I thoroughly enjoyed this book which covers topics from creating positive habits, correct thinking, vision and removing unhelpful beliefs around money. Jen Sincero makes the journey of self discovery interesting and fun with anecdotes about her journey towards financial success. She will talk you through the beliefs you hold which hold you back, faith and gratitude, intention and desire. It’s a fun ride and definitely worth a read. Here’s some of the main points covered in the book.

Jen Sincero makes an awesome introduction. She talks about how her freelancing writing days came with a lot of lack and financial strife. She bought everything on the cheap and despised the rich! In her 40’s she was still scraping by! This very much hit the note with me; I had a similar situation. Reading Wallace Wattles The Science Of Getting Rich was an eye opener, but she still refuted the advice of the book:
“Whatever may be said in praise of poverty, the fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one is rich” – Wallace Wattles. The Science Of Getting Rich.
“Whatever! Wattles!” Was Jen’s response! Who doubted the advice! It is this candid approach which makes the book so readable and Jen so authentic. I immediately empathised with her because I had been as sceptical (if not more) of the books I read. After reconciling her beliefs about money, the rich and her desperate situation, she eventually “woke up”!
“The point was I’d spent an entire lifetime self-righteously insisting that being rich was overrated and gross, and I wasn’t going to back down easily no matter how broke I had to stay in order to prove my point.” .“I was so disgusted that Wattles could be such a shallow ignoramus that I not only slammed the book shut and didn’t pick it up again until years later (at which time it, erm, totally changed my life), I also continued to barely make any money for those next few years” – Jen Sincero – You Are A Badass At Making Money!

Jen craftily discusses the “for and against” argument of having money and not having it which brings you on side. These are points/beliefs we all carry – whether money in and of itself is a “bad” thing or a “good” thing often divides us and these underlying beliefs control our ability to make it. So why not choose beliefs which support the ability to make money, and in abundance?
Jen goes on to delve into our beliefs about money, wealth and ourselves. The seeds of our thoughts can only bear fruits of a like mind. Therefore if we continue to think in terms of lack and limitation, harbouring ideas of poverty and drought, we can’t help buy create these results in our lives, simply because those are the seeds we “plant”.
What’s great about this book is that it isn’t limited to “theory”. It’s entertaining and thought provoking and fun but after each chapter theres some work to do. Here’s the exercise after chapter 1:
To Get Rich
Suggested Money Mantra (say it, write it, feel it, own it). I love money because I love myself.
Please give at least 10 answers to the following:
- Make a list of all the reasons why you deserve money
- Make a list of some beautiful things that have happened in this world thanks to money.
- Make a list of some things and experiences money will add to your life.
- Make a list of how you being rich will benefit others.
Please fill in the black: I’m grateful to money because__________________________

“If you can make yourself believe that thoughts that are screwing up your financial life, i.e., I can’t make money because of X (I’m a single mom, I live in the middle of nowhere, I’m an idiot, etc.), you can make yourself unbelieve them too.
This is how powerful we are and how deceptively simple changing our lives is – we can literally create the reality we desire by making ourselves think and believe what we desire to think and believe.” “Your external world is a mirror of your internal world”.
An example of this from the book is that of a neuroscientist called Vilayanur Ramachandran who uses the power of belief to help amputees in excruciating pain. Phantom pain by amputees is where real pain occurs in the missing limb. Vilayanur uses mirrors to reflect the real limb onto the area where the missing limb is. The patient flexes their real arm and the mirrors “trick” their mind into thinking they are flexing their missing arm to eleviate the pain.
It is our beliefs which manifest in the world as our realities. So by changing our beliefs we can create better outcomes. Therefore “consciously choosing what rolls around in your mind and falls out of your mouth is one of the most important things you can do.”
Summary
Jen goes on to talk about meditation, affirmations, serving others, habits and many other gems of wisdom often talked about in the other books on self help, mindset and wealth. I think she basically covers all the points from books such as Napoleon Hills Think and Grow Rich, Wallace Wattles The Science Of Getting Rich, Raymond Holliwell Working With The Law and many more. She does so in a natural, fun and appealing way too, journalling her own story of doubt and scepticism and pain and struggle.
This makes it more appealing, (especially to sceptics), than perhaps some of the older more authoritative sounding books on the subject of money and money mindset such as Napoleon Hill’s Think and grow Rich, which is much more serious in its tone.
