What is an abundance money mindset? An abundance mindset is one which is open to receiving, rather than limited by beliefs of limitation and scarcity. Often limiting beliefs around money hold you back from taking certain actions.
This can be known as a scarcity mindset in which thoughts of lack and limitation bring about circumstances and situations which are reflective of those beliefs. Overcoming a scarcity mindset can take some commitment and reflection. Many limiting beliefs around money come from our childhood. Before we are even 10 years old we have absorbed ideas of limitation from our parents and environment without question. These beliefs shape your world view. It can become difficult to escape your circumstances in life, given that these hidden beliefs are mostly unconscious ideas of lack and limitation.
To create an abundance money mindset, we need to bring awareness to our limiting ideas around money and wealth and of lack and limitation. The scarcity mindset believes there’s not enough for everyone and/or that you are never enough. The abundance mindset believes that there’s more than enough for everyone.
Abundance Money Mindset – Finding Limiting Beliefs
You may have some limiting beliefs of your own which become evident when you pay attention to what you say about money/wealth.
- Money doesn’t grow on trees
- Rich people are greedy
- It’s wrong to want too much money
- There’s a limited amount of money which people “should” have
- I’m undeserving of what I really want
- To be poor is more virtuous than to be rich
- I’m never enough
- There never seems to be enough
- I’m unworthy of wealth
- Money is the route of all evil
The degree to which you believe (or give any credence) to these ideas should give you an idea as to whether you hold some negative beliefs about money. Lack of money can also come from lack of self worth, a poor self image and a feeling of being underserving. Go through this article and answer all the questions. You should find some limiting ideas which will curb your potential for an abundance mindset towards money.
When you bring more awareness to your limiting beliefs, you can take action to start shifting your ideas to align more with what you want, rather than holding you from it.
Abundance Money Mindset – Hard Wired Into Your Subconscious
A scarcity mindset can be “hard wired” into your subconscious mind because of the things you picked up from your childhood. So even with a lot of positive intention and self belief, your best intentions can be sabotaged by these underlying ideas. One simple practice for shifting your mindset on a deep level is to make the practice of gratitude a daily routine.
Old patterns of behaviour are difficult to change. You have likely been thinking in a certain way for many years. These thoughts create grooves which give you identity and you act out your life with these ideas as your guide. But if they aren’t of an abundance mentality, you’re likely going to come up against some financial hardship or scarcity.
When this happens, it only further solidifies your thinking and beliefs! It’s a catch 22 situation. More poverty reinforces your scarcity mindset, and on it goes. To shift to a more abundant mindset you need to take regular, conscious, deliberate actions to shift your thinking and emotions to a more positive belief system. This can take some time, and you’ll likely feel like nothing is happening, and even fall back into your old patterns.
Start writing a gratitude journal every day to begin the process of installing new ideas into your subconscious mind.
Watch The Mind
The subconscious mind is wise. It will deliver your world view as you see it! If you carry thoughts of scarcity, your life will deliver circumstances and situations which are in agreement with those thoughts. Likewise, if you carry thoughts of abundance you will see abundance appearing in your life experience.
“The subconscious mind is a fertile garden in which weeds will grow in abundance if the seeds of a more desirable crop are not sewn therein.” – Napoleon Hill – Think and Grow Rich
So, if you desire an outcome which is conflicting with some of the thoughts you have about it, you will likely sabotage yourself because of your limiting ideas which you carry in your mind. If you want to create more abundance, but you believe “rich people are selfish” for example, how will you consolidate the conflict? Likely by sabotaging your own efforts and bringing about lack and limitation.
