Bob Proctor was a massive inspiration to me. He said that he read Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich every day for several decades. You can find the pdf version of that book and many others like it in this article “motivational books pdf free download“.
What is your paradigm and why should you change it? I struggled with money for years and things only changed when I changed the way I saw myself – my paradigm. Your paradigm is your belief system which is responsible for creating the outcomes in your life. If you’re struggling with a particular problem and you can’t seem to overcome it, it may be that your self image or identity is wrapped up in an unhelpful paradigm.
No amount of hard work, persistence or struggle on the “outside” will help. Your paradigm persists and so your results in life remain constant. The only way to make real and lasting change is to shift the way you see yourself. Your paradigm is the controlling mechanism consisting of your beliefs, self image and identity.
So if you see yourself as never being good enough, for example, you’ll create outcomes which are consistent with that belief. If you see yourself as a “failure”, you will create consistent outcomes which reinforce this identity.

The reason most people continue struggling in life financially, is because they have picked up “programs” which reinforce their reality. What they create in life gives more credence to these beliefs and therefore their identity becomes more and more ingrained. Someone who sees themselves as a “failure” for example, will fail and something and declare: “You see, I told you I wasn’t cut out for this”! Their identity is cemented each time they prove themselves “right”.
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ― C.G. Jung
But this will have started from some bad “programming” which is usually picked up before you were able to consciously reject an idea – in your childhood. Before you were 10 years old, you will have picked up ideas and attitudes from your parents relating to money. As time goes on, “your” ideas become more cemented into your consciousness, and they become beliefs. The problem is they weren’t “your” ideas to begin with – they were someone else’s!
But as your life continues to show you how your beliefs are real, you continue to believe them! It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Take a look at some negative beliefs about money and see which ones stand out for you:
- Making money is hard
- There’s only so much to go around
- Rich people are greedy
- It’s wrong to want
- Money is the route of all evil
Look at the above statements and mark yourself out of 10 according to your level of agreement with each one. Take a look at more similar ideas in the article how to change your relationship with money.
